If you're yearning for a nose stud, bosting for a belly-ring, have a hankering for an pierced ear or are desperate for a prince Albert - I've got just the place ;)

The infamous hacky-sack incident involving the police! Sat outside a pub after work this evening one of my work colleagues accidentally lost control of his hacky sack and it fell in the road - right in front of a police car. Jon Stewart, the unlucky unfortunate soul, was warned and given a written note by the police woman informing him of why he was questioned....what a lot of rot and a waste of time....but funny can see the new Carluccio's restaurant nr the library in the background.....

This is part of an informative exhibition as part of the Brighton Festival - it commemorates and informs about the Tsunami disaster as is located outside the Brighton library - I'm really excited about the festival as there will be lots of great photo should see the spiegeltent!!!!

Some time ago I posted a picture of a sculpture known locally as the green doughnut or green bagel. I was asked at the time to post another pic to give some sense of scale - well, here it is - another stitched shot taken with the Canon.

Port holes in a ship in this shot taken on the pier.....

Tuesday, April 25, 2006

Yet another shot of the pier (I know I'm sorry), but I just thought the sea looked so still - and there's a new addition to the pier - you can see it sticking out the top of the Helter Skelter - it's like a big swing crane arm that whirls you around....don't know if you'll get me on it though....

playground at dusk....sorry I'm REALLY late with today's photo (I had one of those "did I or didn't I post already" moments). This playground is part of Brighton's reinvestment in the city - It's a bustling area during the day and the vandals seem to have left it alone, which is a godsend. The climbing frame nearest the camera is actually shaped on the Pavillion as well .....

All aboard - just in case you were wondering - this is what the inside of a Brighton bus looks like......

Saturday, April 22, 2006

As one of the last comments on my blog stated - yes it was sunny and warm here yesterday (PS the shots taken are usually published the day after ;) clever that really) Here's a bad attempt at a stitch photo of Hove's seafront....

Like over at Paris Daily Photo we're still in coats over here in the UK too. This shot of "NOBODY taking coffee because it's freezing" is at the entrance to the Pavillion.

This is a centrepiece from the wooden gates which guard the entrance to the Pavillion Gardens. I just liked the geometry - see if you can spot it next time you're in town.......This gateway was donated by the people of India to brighton as the Pavillion was used as a field hospital during the Great War.

The flower clock at Palmeira Square in Hove is a landmark - not the prettiest in the winter months, but come Spring the council have planted the beds - I've had to crop this photo as Palmeira is surrounded by roadworks at the moment and is hellish to get through in the mornings :(

Volks Railway goes from the Pier to the Marina. It's the oldest electric railway in the world still working and suffered a few teething problems on it's spring opening at the weekend (new track laid wasn't working apparently). Opened 4th August 1883 it's worth a trip........

The Kissing Statue mkII, Chris and a few others had asked for me to post another pic of this statue to give it some scope and scale from the 1st pic I posted a few days ago on 9th April.

Hard working, industrial Brighton taken at night from the Sussex hospital. the coast is off to the left and the big crane in the forefront is busy building the new hospital on the same site......

Shamelessly using my own son (James on Right) and his pal (Louis on left) as models - I'm using this shot to show off the red of the boat (yeah right!!) versus the indigo of the sea at sundown.....welcome to Brighton kids - it's a real playground...;)

Looks like a "tea for two" pose in blues 'n' pinks.....however this is a perfume and bedding shop (nice combination) on North Street called Cologne & Cotton. I walk past it every day and have NEVER seen a customer in there......anyone know if it's a chain or an independent? You can see a bus in the reflection of the glass too (it's like a two centre photo).

World Cup 2006 fever is already gripping the nation and there's still two months to go. The England FA have been embarrassed recently by tabloid revelations about gambling being rife among the team, with Rooney allegedly owing 700,000 pounds to a friend of Michael Owen.

At work we will be opening up our big screen in the boardroom for the big games and I must admit I really fancy England's chances this year - if the hotheads can stay cool!!!

Playing in the Pavillion gardens this musician plays the most incredible Jazz - I'm always happy to put a 1 in the hat - today I asked if I could take his pic......

Postcards from the edge (of Brighton). Interestingly most of the postcards sold in Brighton feature the capital London! Go figure!

Brighton & Hove are indistinguishable, there is no dividing line, no plaque to mark the boundary, the two places run into one - but they have a very different feel from one another, it's hard to describe - Brighton is the bright eyed cheeky youngster and Hove it's sensible cousin from the country.....

Looking a little like a lampshade out in the middle of the sea, this buoy warns of high ground - so don't go steering your oil tanker this close inshore please........ Posted by Picasa
Is it just me or is anyone having trouble with Blogger & Hello over the past few days?

I thought I'd try and send my photo the old fashioned way - by bike courier - here nicely regaled in Orange....... Posted by Picasa

This is called The Kissing Statue. A cast iron structure into which little holes have been drilled to make the image. This is on the seafront. Posted by Picasa

This may look like a random photo of a shop window, but it's the people in front of the window that I intended to catch. Every spring, summer, autumn Brighton becomes hostage to the language student. Milling around, in what seems like their thousands, following some inevitable
clipboard around the sights of Brighton.

Just a hint of irony in this one - found down at Hove Park ;-)

Thursday, April 06, 2006

St Andrews Church in Hove is a real gem of a church just tucked away from the main throughfare of Hove.

Friends of ours are regular church goers and we were fortunate enough to see their 3 year old son re-enact the nativity at this same church last Christmas - it was fantastic.

I didn't get into town yesterday - and there weren't any shots in the vault I wanted to post - so, here is today's Brighton photo taken in my back garden.....spring is in the air......

These jolly fellows seem more concerned with keeping their top hats on than hitting a boundary "six" with their bats......a very english scene (which ties in a little with my pub theme of last week). I say...that's simply not cricket......

Monday, April 03, 2006

Starlings over the west pier. Every night without fail, thousands upon thousands of Starlings nest on the west pier. They swoop and dive in unison - like a shoal of fish and it's an incredible sight to see, and an incredibly difficult thing to photograph!

Coming back from holiday is RUBBISH! As demonstrated here by our refuse collectors (shown just outside the lanes).

Firstly a big thank you to Ham over at LondonDP for looking after the website whilst I was away skiing.

I hope you enjoyed the pub series last week (in black and white) - I think this one got the most visitors.....

Holiday pics can be viewed by clicking here Dean's Family Hols.

Seriously though - it's good to be back, I'll be out later taking snaps of Brighton for publication this week.........

PS I'll also update all the links later today - welcome to all new DP'ers

The Market Inn

A fave of mine this one - this is the bolt hole ;)

Great in the winter to watch the football scores coming in on the telly......

I'm away, but this blog can still be published courtesy of Ham over at londondailyphoto.
