The Neptune, Hove

One of Brighton and Hove's more interesting boozers. Interesting folk, interesting setting and sometimes interesting bands! Beer's well looked after here and you'll always be made welcome.

  3. What does Free House mean? For a country hick, I would be walking in with my backpack...

  4. Are there any pubs in Brighton that are REALLY old and have some kind of famous history?

  5. Free House means that the pub can sell any kind of beer or ales that it wishes - it means that the pub is not tied to or owned by a brewery (therefore the brewery would want only its own beers or ales sold in the pub) therefore a "free" house

  6. Yes, one of my favourites. And only two minutes walk from our beach hut. Very nice spot on a weekday afternoon. And they serve two of our county's finest beers: Harvey's Syssex Best and Dark Star's Hophead. Nice collection of old boys and their furry friends. Carl behind the bar is a nice bloke.
