Short Series - Lines and Symetry (1 of 3)

Just a short series on Lines and Symetry here in Brighton (1 of 3). This is a panel which is nr to the new library. Perhaps it's a form of mild dementure but I LOVE symetry....

Shoreham by Sea

Lifeboat station at Shoreham-by-sea this evening. So far this year they've been called out over 27 times and it makes quite interesting reading to each of the call-outs. So hopefully you'll never need these brave men - but if you get the chance please give generously to the RNLI.

Deep sea jiver

Courtesy of our regular contributor, Hannah Cole - this shot is taken down in the Laines of a band of merry musicians that call themselves the "Deep Sea Jiver's". I've seen them - they're great.

Rollin' double sixes

.....All day long. Struck me as a really upbeat and optimistic phrase that I'd not heard before - covering up some of the building work in front of the library this hoarding has been very neatly decorated......

Night time at the big purple cow

As per my previous post - a big purple upside-down cow has landed in the middle of Brighton - it's called Udderbelly and is part of the Brighton Festival - a huge stage is lurking on the inside, where all sorts of weird and wonderful acts perform.

Last night I was lucky enough to see the stand up comic Jim Jeffries - an Aussie comedian - he was hilarious and very very controversial - no subject deemed to be taboo was unexplored, I'm sure a few people walked out. I must have a thick skin - I thought it was all harmless and totally hilarious.

Dunkin' Donuts

A trip to the pier just isn't the same without a sugary bag of Donuts (or should that be doughnuts?) - it's the highlight of the trip for my 4 yr old (and mine if I'm honest....)

John Peel Coincidence

By sheer coincidence I was talking with colleagues (Tom Nixon and Ray Richards) today in the 3 and ten when the pub - the prince albert was mentioned as being a good "local". I had passed this pub just the night before and had taken this photo.

We then discussed how long the mural of John Peel had been up on the wall - not long was the response - I must've walked past this sooo many times without noticing.....

God rest his soul - John Peel - voice of a nation

Gresham Blake, Bespoke Tailors

Now Brighton has a world famous tailor in its midst - and tailor to the stars. Gresham Blake is based on Bond Street in the North Laines and has the most amazing suits, shirts and ties that are simply unique.

One day I'll get a Gresham suit......(dreaming.....)

This pic breaks a few rules - the 1st is that I don't usually go in front of the camera! the 2nd is that this isn't Brighton!

I was in Berlin on a business trip for the day - here's checkpoint charlie in Berlin.

Please go over to Berlin Daily Photo for the real thing run by Philipp.

Udderbelly, The Brighton Festival

Brighton Festival (the 41st anniversary) is here and with us and starts today.

You may be wondering what the hell is udderbelly? Well, each year one of the venues is temporary theatre that is constructed on the site of Old Steine. In previous years it's been the Spiegeltent but rumour has it that the festival organisers messed up and forgot to book it for this year! (Here's a piccy of the Spiegeltent from this time last year on this blog).

In the shape of a big purple cow (lying on its back) it's been quite impressive watching this structure go up from the window of our office at Spannerworks.

I'm down for a visit as I'm booked in to see Stewart Lee
