Blue skies above Brighton

Back from holiday and back in the saddle again - I've been struggling lately with the decision to carry on with BDP - but have reached a conclusion that I get so much pleasure from it that I'll find the enthusiasm to get our there to find different shot/angles/stories to keep it interesting (or at least semi-interesting).

This shot is taken of North Street - facing north - from our offices in Palace Place. The roadworks you can see have been there for MONTHS! now and it's not really clear what exactly it is they're improving?

After the snow of last week the sun has returned to Brighton and there's a sense of Spring in the air - hallelujah!

  1. Glad to see that you're carrying on. Is there any reason (e.g. legal issues) that you don't do photos of the people of Brighton? There's so much of interest to look at here...

  3. Good choice deciding to continue! After just 100 consecutive posts I've discovered I look forward to getting the next photo and commentary online ... and almost feel disappointed when I realize I have to wait another 24 hours to make my next post. Lovely view today!

  5. Thanks for keeping this going, I enjoy it every day - and in fact, am coming to see Brighton in person the first part of May. I'll be arriving from Boise, Idaho, USA. And I even started a daily photo blog for my hometown after seeing yours for months boisedailyphoto.blogspot.com. Keep it coming!

  6. Thank you for deciding to continue with this; I used to live in Brighton and miss it terribly - your photos are a lifeline to a place I long to see again with my own eyes. Cheers, Lea

  7. Thank you for the photos. I enjoy them for the same reason as Lea. They are a link to somewhere I lived and loved. The picture contains a pub I have always known as "Shades", yet it is actually called "Royal Pavillion Tavern". Anyone know why it is Shades? (Is it still Shades?)

  10. thank you all SO much for your votes of support - I'll keep going not least because of your kind words and the fact that I do like doing it - I just find it difficult to think of new ideas for shots!

  14. Like others that responded, I spent time in Brighton (16 months) on a work assignment, and have traveled back from the US twice because I loved my time there.

    If you are running out of ideas for pictures, how about for everyone that spent time in Brighton listing some requests for places they'd like to see again?

    I'd love to see:
    * Exterior of the Metropole hotel (lived 4 months on the top floor)
    * My regular pub's: Druid's Head, Fiddler's Elbow, Font & Firkin, Park View Tavern, Preston Park Tavern, Prodigal, Temple Bar, Western Front
    * Preston Park (worked in the American Express building just north of Lover's Walk)
    * Adelaide Crescant
