Jamie's Italian

With a bit of a fanfare Jamies Italian and the new Black Lion Street development was officially opened yesterday by the Mayor of Brighton and ably assisted by Jamie Oliver's right hand man Gennaro Contaldo. (Pictured here being interviewed by Laura Hampton from the BBC). The street features offices above the restaurant occupied by the wonderful iCrossing.

Fred Perry Store

Always the last to find out anything in Brighton. Only as a result of our recent office move did I stumble across the Fred Perry Store in the Lanes.

It's probably been open for years and I've been wandering around with my eyes shut....!

Their products have slowly been creeping back up the fashionista credibility, nice to have an English brand that's doing well in the current climate.

Food For Friends Photo

Following yesterday's vegetarian theme........Another Brighton Photo here this time of the famous vegetarian restaurant food for friends. Based in the Lanes its renowned for being great food at great value. And just a stones throw away from where yesterday's protest was held.

Vegetarian Protest

Peta the "People for the ethical treatment of Animals" organisation staged a pregnant "naked lady" protest today outside the new Jamie Oliver Italian restaurant in Brighton.

Departure point

Brighton Photo up on the Downs today, again, this time shooting the departure point of all the paragliders (of which there were probably 25/30 up on the downs this morning)

The pub on the hill

Fond as I am of pubs ;) this one has just had a makeover - it can be found at the top of Devil's Dyke, it's had many facelifts in the past - but I think this time they've nailed it.

The Devils Dyke is now owned by the Vintage Inn chain

Get there early for the view and a Sunday lunch.

iCrossing moves to new offices

An exciting day, the company I work for iCrossing UK has moved into brand new offices today and what an amazing view is offered from the many balconies and terraces in the new place.

It truly is a breath of fresh air and a great setting for all who work there and visiting clients.

As an extra bit of Sparkle - located on our ground floor is the new Jamie Oliver Italian restaurant.

Got there just a touch too late this evening to miss the setting sun over the South Downs Way from Devil's Dyke.

Hove dodgy nightclubbing!

Out in the stix (Hove actually) a little is Babylon Lounge only ever used by me for a cold cider on a Summer evening - but apparently it goes all year round!

Do we have our very own "Banksy"

Spotted in Palace Place on a telephone exchange - it looks like we have our very own Banksy in Brighton. A little sleuthing discovered that its possibly by an artist who goes by the name of funky red dog although this of course can't be proved. Don't know much more than that though - funky red dog if you're out there can you respond - what's your cause?

A portrait of the other side

Not quite as pretty as yesterdays shot showing the back of the building - as you can see the scaffolding has moved to the front entrance. With a great big apology to its visitors plastered across the building.

It's been a while - Brighton Photo

...since the sun has shone here - and a while since i posted a Brighton Photo of the iconic Royal Pavillion - so here it is without all the scaffolding that's been around it for so long. (Scaffolding has moved to the main entrance now).

Dr Robert and The Blow Monkeys

I caught up with an old pal and ex-band mate Neil Sheasby this evening, his band The Stone Foundation were supporting The Blow Monkeys up at the Hanbury Ballroom.

Eurgh! What a grey day

Just when we thought we were through the bleak winter - it returns to Brighton today with a vengeance. Miserable and wet - boo! With hail forecast for Weds. Double Boo.

Has Spring sprung?

The crocuses in St Anne's Well Gardens seem to think so.
