Brighton Quakers
Situated at the edge of the lanes - I walk past this everyday - without paying much attention.
Apparently it's the meeting house for the Brighton Quakers

Home baking...

Courtesy of an idea from colleague Chris Eden - all the company's home bakers are busy overnight. Make cakes - sell cakes - send money to Haiti disaster fund. Easy. Bake for the quake.

Our Queen, Fizziwigs jelly bean mosaic
Amongst the many things that make Brighton unique I'm pleased to post a photo taken of the mosaic that's in the shop window of Fizziwigs It's a cracking sweet shop (featuring all your old faves bon bons, cola bottles, sherbert, dib dabs etc)
This is a mosaic of her Maj made entirely out of jelly beans.
Cool eh?

The last of the snow?
In spite of soothsayers and weathermen, the big snowfall didn't arrive over the weekend here in Brighton :(
So instead, it seemed, every family in Brighton and Hove was seeking to eek out the last very morsel of value from the snowy conditions.
Us included.
Hove park was packed with sledges, surf boarders, bin-liners, snow boarders etc etc.
Great stuff!
Doesn't feel like the New Year's begun yet does it? Where's the drudgery, miserable faced gloom?
(Long may it continue)

Frozen Britain/Brighton
Continues, but credit where it's due - the buses were all running today.
Temperatures of -21c were recorded in Britain overnight with more snow set to come at the weekend.
I think I've had enough now.
Here's #2 of the series in Black and White - rooftops.

Snow day #3
My good friend @neilcains took some amazing pics this morning whilst on his way to work whilst listening to some stirring music.
This one's a personal fave as you can almost feel how cold this is and (if you're listening to the music also!) you can feel the sun on your back!
Neil's other shots can be found over here on Brighton Daily Photo extra.
Nice work Neil - thanks again.

Snow day #2 Brighton January 2010
The day started with just a few centimetres of snow which quickly turned to sludge - however that didn't stop Brighton bus services all being withdrawn (which meant a 4 mile walk into work!). I mean really - it was just a few centimetres (are we getting worse at dealing with snow).
That said - at the time of writing it's still snowing here in Brighton (10.15am 6th Jan 2010). This really is quite unusual for the south coast as we miss the bad weather - those up north get the brunt.

Welcome back
To a cold start this January - this is the view of my frosty motorbike - which I still ride in all weathers from Hove into the office in Brighton.
Looking forward to more of Brighton Daily Photo in 2010 - I've given up on the resolutions to make sure I post every day - but rest assured - I'll do my best.
This is the first in a series of Black and White's on the "weather!"
We're in for some snow allegedly this week so put your gloves on.
